Designing the scene for Act 5, Scene 2

Here is a WIP series showing the development of the finished environment for Act 5, Scene 2.

Unfortunately this environment took a very long time as I was having problems with detail and perspective, because environments are not my strong point. I chose to do it in 2D to try to build up my painting skills and also tackle the hard task of environments. Overall I am happy with this for the most part, however I see a big problem in the perspective of the chest on the left, however when I spotted it it was too far along and I had already merged the layers and could not afford to go back and work on it when time is already a little too short.

I put a lot of effort into this and worked with different brushes and different marks to get texture effects that can be seen in most of the objects in the background, for example the rug, the fireplace and the cupboard in the background. However, some of the small details did get a little lost when I played around with the hue and saturation in some objects, for example, the highlights on the fireplace. However, due to lack of time, I cannot risk going back and working on the small details at this point, and I must start putting it all together.

The texture brushes I used were mostly these: http://www.brusheezy.com/brushes/42778-wood-brushes-the-sequel-rehbelle
